Your Sign Health Benefits

Just like choosing the right tools for a job, you have important choices to make about your health and health care. With Sign health benefits, you have a choice of medical plans so that you can select the one that’s right for you and your family. You also have dental and vision coverage to take care of every aspect of your health.

Eligibility For Health Benefits

The Sign Welfare Fund utilizes an advanced eligibility system to determine eligibility for health benefits. For Shop Employees, you become eligible for coverage the first day of the third month following two consecutive months in which you worked a minimum of 250 hours.  Installers become eligible for coverage the first day of the third month following two consecutive months in which you worked a minimum of 170 hours.

To maintain eligibility each month, the "cost" is 125 hours per month for Shop Employees and 85 hours per month for Installers. If you have more than the monthly required hours reported and paid, the excess will go into your reserve account. Your reserve account can hold up to a maximum of 500 hours for Shop employees and 340 hours for Installers.  In months in which fewer than the required monthly hours are reported and paid on your behalf, the hours in your reserve account will be used to maintain coverage.

"I'm a Shop Employee who worked 130 hours in  in April and 120 hours in May. When will I be eligible?" You will be eligible for coverage the first day of August, provided your employer reports and pays these hours on your behalf by June.

"I'm an Installer, and I only worked 75 hours in September, but I’ve been eligible for the prior 3 months. Will I lose my November eligibility?" As long as you have at least 10 hours in your reserve account, so that your total hours equal 85, your eligibility will be maintained.

"I'm an Installer who worked 120 hours in December which is more than the minimum needed. What happens to those additional 35 hours?" Once you establish initial eligibility, any hours reported over the required monthly amount are credited to your reserve account, up to the maximum allowed.

Once you become eligible, your benefit program includes:
